Now that all the pending orders have shipped, we thought it would be a good time to take stock of where our efforts have been able to do some good in the world.
While Kickstarter rules prevented us from including an automatic donation as part of your pledge rewards, nothing prevents us from using a little of our own seed money to do it for you. We’d set aside $1,000 to donate on behalf of our Kickstarter community, split evenly among the five organizations we’re currently supporting. (You can read all about them here.)
In addition, we did get a handful of orders via our online storefront – almost all of them referred by our subscribers and backers (thank you!). Of the eight orders: one opted to allocate their donation to the Southern Poverty Law Center, one chose the Trevor Project, and the remainder elected to spread their donation across all five causes.
That means that the final breakdown of donations we’re making this month is:
$211 to the American Civil Liberties Union
$211 to the Human Rights Campaign
$211 to the Organization for Refuge, Asylum & Migration
$216 to the Trevor Project
$230.50 to the Southern Poverty Law Center
Thank you for your support of Responsible Linen and of the great causes we’re sending these funds to. As you know, being able to give to the LGBTQ community was a fundamental driver in our decision to launch Responsible Linen. There is still a long way to go before everyone can live openly, and safely. We are humbled by your compassion, and grateful for your help in supporting these organizations in their mission to promote equal rights and dignity for all.
